Add the wholesale bar

Turn on the wholesale bar app embed so visitors see a link to apply for a wholesale account and signed-in B2B buyers see a link to quick order.

Updated 2 min read

The wholesale bar is a slim bar across every page of your store, except the password page. It shows a different message depending on who’s looking:

Who They see
Visitors, and customers without a company “Buying for a business?” with a link “Apply for a wholesale account”
Signed-in B2B buyers “Buying for” their company’s name, with a link “Quick order”

Turn it on

  1. In B2B Desk, click Turn on wholesale bar in the setup guide, or Turn on next to Wholesale bar in the Storefront card on Home.
  2. The theme editor opens on App embeds with Wholesale bar switched on.
  3. Adjust the settings if you want, then click Save.

By default the bar links visitors to /pages/wholesale and buyers to /pages/quick-order. B2B Desk doesn’t create those pages. Either create them, as in Add the application form to your store and Add the Order Pad to your store, or point the bar at your own pages with Application page and Order page. Application page also takes your hosted application page link, if that’s where buyers apply.

Settings

Group Setting Default
Visitors Show to visitors without a B2B account On
Message “Buying for a business?”
Link label “Apply for a wholesale account”
Application page /pages/wholesale when empty
B2B buyers Show to signed-in B2B buyers On
Link label “Quick order”
Order page /pages/quick-order when empty
Style Position Top. “At the top, the bar scrolls away with the page. At the bottom, it stays in view.”
Background #1a1a1a
Text #ffffff
Show close button On. “A closed bar stays hidden until the shopper’s next visit.”

The buyer message, “Buying for” and the company name, can’t be changed. If you turn off Show to signed-in B2B buyers, B2B buyers see no bar at all, not the visitor version.

How it fits your theme

The bar is 40 pixels tall, or 52 on phones where the message and link stack. It reserves its own space, so nothing on the page jumps when it appears. Long text is cut off with “…”, so keep the message short.

A closed bar stays hidden for the rest of the shopper’s visit. Visitors and buyers are tracked separately.
