How buyers use the Order Pad

A guide to share with B2B buyers on finding products, entering quantities that meet ordering rules, reading volume pricing and adding everything to the cart.

Updated 2 min read

The Order Pad lists products as rows, one row per variant, at the prices the buyer’s company gets. Buyers type quantities into the rows they want and add the whole order to the cart in one click. This page explains it from the buyer’s side, so you can link buyers to it.

Find products

  • Search title, SKU or barcode filters the rows already loaded, ignoring upper and lower case.
  • Vendor and Product type filters appear when the loaded products have at least two of each.
  • Sort by offers Featured, Title, SKU, Price, low to high and Price, high to low.
  • Load more products adds the next page of rows. Search and sorting cover only loaded rows, so load more if a product is missing.

Enter quantities

Type a quantity on each row you want. Leave a row empty, or enter 0, to skip it. Press Enter to move to the next row’s quantity and Shift+Enter to go back. Enter never submits the order.

Ordering rules from your company’s catalog show under the field:

Label Meaning
“Min 6” Order at least 6
“Max 120” Order at most 120
“In steps of 6” Order in multiples of 6, counting from the minimum

A quantity that breaks a rule is flagged as you type, with “Below the minimum.”, “Above the maximum.”, “Not a valid step for this item.” or “Enter a whole number.” When you leave the field, the pad changes it to the nearest valid quantity and says so: “Changed to 12 to match the ordering rules.”

Rule You type Changed to
Min 5, max 100, steps of 5 12 15
Min 5, max 100, steps of 5 250 100
Min 3, steps of 4 8 11

Rows that still break a rule are highlighted and left out of the cart.

Volume pricing

Rows with volume pricing show “3 price breaks”. Open it to see each break, like “24+ at $23.50 each”. Unit price always shows the base price, and Line total uses the best break your quantity reaches. A row with 24 units at “24+ at $23.50 each” totals $564.00.

Add everything to the cart

The bar at the bottom of the pad shows “Lines: 5” and the Subtotal, and stays in view as you scroll. Click Add all to cart to add every valid row in one go.

Message Meaning
“Added to your cart: 5.” Every line was added
“Not added: 1. See the highlighted rows.” Shopify refused some lines. The reason shows on each highlighted row, and the other lines were still added.
“Left out for invalid quantities: 2.” Rows that break an ordering rule weren’t added

Added rows are cleared. Click View cart to check out.
