Use the hosted application page
B2B Desk hosts a wholesale application page for your store. Share its link instead of adding the form to your store, or alongside it.
The hosted application page is a copy of your application form that B2B Desk serves from its own address, outside your theme. It’s one of two ways to take applications, alongside the form on your store. Use either one, or both: applications from each land in the same place.
Use it to:
- Take applications without adding anything to your theme.
- Send prospects a link to apply, from sales emails, trade shows or a sales rep’s signature.
- Let buyers apply when your store only sells to logged-in buyers. Visitors can’t open any of your pages there, but they can open this link. Add it to your password page.
- Point the wholesale bar at it: paste the link into the bar’s Application page setting.
Find and copy the link
The link looks like …/apply/your-store, where your-store is your store’s myshopify name. You can copy it from several places:
| Where | Button |
|---|---|
| Settings › Hosted application page | Copy link or Open page, next to the Page link field |
| Home | Copy application link or Preview application form |
| Home › Storefront | Copy link or Open page |
| Home › Set up B2B Desk | Copy hosted page link |
| Applications | Copy application link |
| Settings › Application form | View hosted form |
Copying the link on Home or in the guided setup ticks off the Choose where buyers apply setup task, just as adding the form to your theme does. If copying fails, the app says “Could not copy. Select the text and copy it instead.” The Page link field in Settings is easiest to select.
What the page shows
- Your store’s name above the heading “Apply for a wholesale account”.
- The intro “Tell us about your business to buy wholesale from” your store name, then “We review every application and email you the outcome.”
- The fields from your latest saved form in Settings › Application form.
- Always your Button, Text and Background colors from the form’s Appearance settings, with a standard system font. The “use my theme’s colors and fonts” option only affects the form on your store.
After submitting, the applicant sees “Thank you, we received your application”. Applications from this page show Hosted page as their source.
How the page handles errors
The page doesn’t need JavaScript. When something’s wrong, it reloads with a summary such as “Fix 2 fields to send your application”, with links to each field. Typed answers are kept, but files have to be chosen again.
| The applicant sees | Why | What they should do |
|---|---|---|
| “This form has expired” | For security the form is valid for 2 hours after it loads, and it needs browser cookies | Click Reload the form and submit again |
| “Too many attempts” | Rate limits on submissions | Wait and try again later |
| “Upload too large” | A document is over 10 MB | Choose smaller files |
| “This application form does not exist” | The link is wrong | Copy the link from Settings again |
Good to know
- Search engines don’t index the page, so it won’t compete with your store in search results.
- The page can’t be shown inside a frame on another site. Link to it instead.
- Spam protection works the same as on your store form. See Protect the form from spam.
